KARACHI: A columnist working with a private news channel was shot dead by burglars in North Nazimabad on Friday morning, police said.

They said Athar Mateen, who was related with Samaa TV as senior news maker, was getting back subsequent to dropping off his kids to their school. As he arrived at Shah Medical Hospital, Block-A, close to KDA Chowrangi, he saw two equipped burglars attempting to loot a bystander. He sped up his vehicle and hit the motorbike of the burglars, who fell out and about.

The muggers started shooting at Mateen and got away in the wake of grabbing the motorbike of someone else. The police have seized the motorbike they had deserted.
